Leon Rainbow collaborated with the staff and clients of The Hub (www.youbelongatthehub.org) on a transformative project to design and create a series of murals that embodied the organization’s mission: “Inspiring Youth & Community Through Hope and Creative Change.” This ambitious artistic endeavor revitalized The Hub’s headquarters and served as a vibrant visual testament to its core values and commitment to community empowerment.
The Main Mural
At the heart of the project was a striking 8ft x 15ft mural featuring the powerful message: “You Belong Here.” Rendered in bold, legible graffiti-style lettering, the centerpiece mural radiated energy and positivity through its vibrant and colorful design. This artwork reflected The Hub’s inclusive and welcoming spirit, creating a space where everyone felt they truly belonged.
Supplemental Murals
Leon Rainbow also created additional murals in three rooms, each designed to reflect the room’s specific purpose, such as the theater, game, and circle rooms. Using words and symbols related to each room’s function, these murals wove a narrative that brought the spaces to life, enhancing their unique identities.
Another mural transformed a doorway wall approximately 10ft x 10ft. This piece featured a striking greyscale cityscape complemented by words and sayings provided by The Hub’s clients, blending visual storytelling with meaningful community input.
The Columns
Adding further depth to the project, two key columns within the space were transformed into bright, eye-catching designs. Each column prominently displayed one of The Hub’s core values: Healing, Unity, and Belonging. These designs brought a fresh and dynamic look to The Hub’s interiors and served as enduring symbols of the organization’s dedication to fostering a supportive and united community.
A Lasting Impact
This series of murals breathed new life into The Hub’s physical space, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere that inspired staff, clients, and visitors alike. The bright colors and meaningful messages sparked conversations, reinforced The Hub’s mission, and became lasting symbols of hope and creative change.
